Matt Hunter

About

Matt Hunter was born in Kamloops, British Columbia in 1983. When he was just a little boy paddling his bike around and over the mountains behind parents’ house he realized that bikes were freedom. He explored the hills and mountain trails wherever and whenever he could. At the age of 12 his love fall into XC racing, but latter on when he was about 15, he found something more interesting in the woods and started focusing on Downhill riding.

His friends followed him and they started learning together. They built big jumps, gnarly trails and film themselves riding. After a while they edit a short video, they submit it to online contest and ended up winning. For Matt that was the beginning of professional career in 2003. Specialized sponsored him from the beginning of his career and he have been with Specialized ever since.

Matt loves shooting photos and filming video segments. He says that every time filming takes place he finds new advantures where he can challenge his moves and riding style – and the more challeging trail is the more he enjoys. Working hand by hand with action sports storyteller and the creative director of Seasons, Follow me, and most recently Strenght in Numbers. Darcy Wittenburg, puts Matt in a unique spot among recognised extreme athletes. The movie From the Inside Out will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray this fall with the world tour starting on October 27th 2011.

Mountains are Matt’s passion and the way big mountain skiers and snowborders ride them on a snow, inspires him on his bike.
